Garlic Market Overview in Brazil
In value terms, garlic production reduced to $ in 2018 estimated in export prices. In general, production, however, showed buoyant growth. From 2012 to 2018, the growth of the average garlic yield remained at a lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

The size of the garlic market in Brazil declined notably to $ in 2018, waning by -% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, the total consumption indicated a measured expansion from 2007 to 2018: its value increased at an average annual rate of +% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, consumption decreased by -% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when the market value increased by % year-to-year. Garlic consumption peaked at $ in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2018, consumption remained at a lower figure.
