Frozen Fruit Market Overview in Portugal
In value terms, frozen fruit production expanded modestly to $ in 2018 estimated in export prices. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the production volume increased by % year-to-year. Frozen fruit production peaked at $ in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
The size of the frozen fruit market in Portugal shrank slightly to $ in 2018, declining by -% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the market value increased by % against the previous year. Frozen fruit consumption peaked at $ in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, consumption remained at a lower figure.
