Overview of the Market for Cider, Perry and Mead in Russia
In value terms, cider, perry and mead production declined modestly to $ in 2019 estimated in export prices. Overall, production, however, saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of % against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $ in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2019, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
The size of the cider, perry and mead market in Russia fell modestly to $ in 2019, reducing by -% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of % y-o-y. Cider, perry and mead consumption peaked at $ in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, consumption remained at a lower figure.
