Cash Register Market Overview in Spain
In value terms, cash register production totaled $67M in 2010 estimated in export prices. Overall, the total output indicated resilient growth from 2007 to 2010: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2010 figures, cash register production increased by +44.5% against 2008 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 with an increase of 54% y-o-y. In that year, cash register production attained its peak level of $72M, and then declined slightly in the following year.
The revenue of the cash register market in Spain amounted to $76M in 2010, lowering by -18.4% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, cash register consumption continues to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 with a decrease of -2.4% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the cash register market attained its peak figure level at $105M in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2010, consumption failed to regain its momentum.
