Operating mainly through its flagship subsidiaries, Universal Leaf Tobacco Company and Universal Global Ventures, Universal Corporation is a global business-to-business agri-products supplier to consumer product manufacturers, operating in more than 30 countries on five continents. The largest portion of its business involves procuring and processing flue-cured, burley, and dark air-cured leaf tobacco for manufacturers of consumer tobacco products. The company operates in major dark tobacco-producing countries, including the US, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Indonesia, Paraguay, the Philippines, and Brazil. Through its plant-based ingredients platform, the company provides a variety of value-added manufacturing processes to produce high-quality, specialty vegetable- and fruit-based ingredients as well as botanical extracts and flavorings. Universal also has a business that recycles waste materials from tobacco production. The US generates more than 20% of the company's total sales.
