ASSOCIACAO PAULISTA PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO DA MEDICINA (SPDM), created in 1959, is a social welfare institution without religious or political ties. The SPDM constantly invests in the education and health of Brazilian citizens. The institution manages several health units throughout the country, among them, the Hospital e Maternidade Prof. Mario de Moraes Altenfelder Silva - HMMA, dedicated to Cancer Treatment and Orthopedics. It also manages 7 Hospital Bairros, located in Heliopolis, Brasilândia, Butantã, M'Boi Mirim, Guarulhos, Pirituba and Cidade Ademar, in addition to a Day Hospital that serves Itapecerica da Serra and Embu das Artes. The SPDM also maintains several Specialized Service Centers. It has a Hospital dedicated to Woman and Child Health, the Hospital do Campo Limpo, reopened and fully renovated with state-of-the-art equipment, the Center for Rehabilitation in Orthopedics and Traumatology – Crot, the Center for Renal Replacement Therapy – Nert and the CICAN - Center for Cancer. The institution's main service is Gynecology and Obstetrics, but there are also clinical specialties in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Otorhinolaryngology, Pulmonology, Dermatology. The SPDM also carries out, through ASSEF - Instituto Social Pró-Funcionário SPDM, educational projects and recreational programs for employee wellbeing and their family members.
