Formosa Chemicals & Fiber was established to meet the rising demand in fiber and plastic products in Taiwan. Since its founding in the mid- 1960s, the company, which is primarily engaged in petrochemical production, has expanded into specialty chemicals, plastics, textiles, nylon, and the engineering and construction of industrial parks throughout the country. It also is engaged in carpet products, and generates electricity and provides water treatment services. The company is a member of the Formosa Plastics group and is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
