Maxcess International was all about the web before there was a Web. The company provides web management products and services through three major operating companies: Fife (established in 1939 and acquired in 1989) makes web guides, sensors, processors, actuators, and web inspection systems; MAGPOWR (established in 1968 and acquired in 1996) makes web tension and torque controls; Tidland (established in 1951 and acquired in 1991) makes slitting and winding products. The products of Maxcess serve industrial manufacturers in several areas, including laminating, metals, packaging, paper and paperboard, plastics, printing, tire and rubber, and wire. Maxcess was started in 1989 by its officers.
