Description
Lundin Mining Corporation is involved in the exploration and development of copper, zinc, nickel, gold, silver, and other mineral projects in the US, Europe (Sweden) and South America (Brazil, Chile, Portugal). It began mining production in 2004 when it bought the Ammeberg Mining AB and Zinkgruvan mines in Sweden. Since its formation, the company has continued to add to its operations through a series of acquisitions. Lundin Mining owns the nickel and copper Eagle Project in Michigan, the zinc- and copper-producing Neves-Corvo mine in Portugal, and the Chapada Mine, a copper and gold mine in Brazil. The company also holds an 80% stake in the Candelaria copper mining complex in Chile. Copper sales represent some 70% of its revenue with the Candelaria Mine generating about half of total sales. Japan is its largest single market with some 20% of sales.
