It gets hot enough in India to stress even the healthiest resident, but India's largest power company, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), thankfully generates enough electricity to run a lot of air conditioners, as well as keep the wheels of industry turning. State-run NTPC, which generates more than 20% of India's power supply, has about 25 coal-based and over 5 gas-based stations. The company's plants (including joint ventures) have a combined capacity of some 62,910 MW and feed distribution grids throughout India; prices are determined by India's Electricity Act. India's national government controls most of NTPC's stock.
