Description
PVC? That's a pipe, right? Used in plumbing or something? Turns out that it's that and a whole lot more -- and Oxy Vinyls is the country's largest manufacturer of the stuff. A subsidiary of Occidental Chemical, Oxy Vinyls develops polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, resins and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM); the latter is a raw material used to make PVC. Oxy Vinyls' products -- which are branded as OxyVinyls -- are used in plumbing pipes, but also in flooring, films, bottles, siding, outdoor furniture, and medical tubing. Its leading position in the North American PVC market puts it ahead of the likes of Georgia Gulf and Formosa Plastics.
