In 1990, Granite Construction Incorporated was formed as the holding company for Granite Construction Company, a transportation and heavy construction contractor that works on public infrastructure projects, such as airports, bridges, highways, mass transit, dams, water-related facilities, utilities, and tunnels. Granite's private sector performs site preparation, mining services, and infrastructure services for residential development, energy development, commercial and industrial sites, and other facilities, as well as provides construction management professional services. In addition to construction services, Granite operates mines and processes aggregates and has plants that produce construction materials, such as asphalt concrete.
