The company's six business divisions provide colorants (through its Teknor Color unit), vinyl compounds, thermoplastic elastomers, engineering thermoplastics, chemicals for the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plasticizer market, and garden hoses. The company's compounds are used for building and construction, consumer products, industrial manufacturing, electrical and electronic devices, medical tools, packaging, and vehicular components. Founded in 1924 by Alfred A. Fain and his son-in-law Albert Pilavin, Teknor invented the first plasticized (flexible) PVC.
