ORBIT HOUSING ASSOCIATION LIMITED

United Kingdom, Margate
Description
by AI
Orbit is a housing association which manages properties in the South and South East of England. The association was founded in 2002 through the merger of three existing housing associations – over the years, these have further amalgamated with other housing associations and been split in various ways, resulting in Orbit's existence as of 2021.Orbit is the result of three entities: Orbit (formally Notting Hill Housing Group), Invicta Housing, and Vivid (part of the Circle Housing Group). Orbit's portfolio of properties includes social housing, affordable housing, and market rent housing. The association also provides a range of services to its tenants and residents across multiple sectors in order to help them as holistically as possible. These include housing management, care and support services, and financial advice – additionally, there are also other services, such as training opportunities and community engagement schemes aimed at helping the local communities to thrive.Orbit owns and manages over 43,00 properties and serves over 80,000 customers living – however, the association still faces competition with the likes of Sovereign and Hyde when it comes to its services.Orbit currently ranks as one of the largest housing providers in the country and is looking to expand further in the future through building new houses and acquiring new housing stock.Orbit also holds an environmental mission and appreciates the impact that it has on the environment – therefore, going forward, it has set out plans to become a net zero carbon emitter by 2050. It aims to achieve this through a number of methods including improving the energy efficiency of the buildings it manages by insulating properties, installing more energy efficient systems, and encouraging recycling – accordingly, it has also been increasing its procurement of developing sustainable construction methods. The association is led by chief executive Paul Tennant, who took over the role from predecessor, Nicola Yates, in 2023 – she had been in post since 2016. The increase in size and turnover has led to a surge in the organisation's profits, which hit over £200m for the 2021. Profits generated from association's work are reinvested into improving services for its customers such as the acquisition of new housing stock and the development of customer service programs.
