The municipality of Heby is a municipality in Uppsala County in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Heby. The municipality was created in 1971 from the amalgamation of several smaller municipalities, including Sala, Heby, and Vittinge. The municipality has a population of around 16,000 people and an area of 1,155 square kilometers. As of 2018, the municipal administration has 660 employees and the economy of 2.35 billion SEK, being funded predominantly by income tax at 46%. The municipality is responsible for providing public services to its residents, including healthcare, education, and social welfare. The municipality is also responsible for maintaining the local infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, and water supply.
