Hickman's owns a total of almost 5 million birds. It also makes fertilizer products from its poultry waste, including pelletized chicken manure and pelletized compost for golf courses and organic vegetable growers. Hickman's was founded in 1944 by the Hickman family, which still owns and operates the company.
