Description
The traditional barnyard has been replaced with environmentally controlled laying houses at Hickman's Egg Ranch (better known as Hickman's Family Farms). The company produces shell eggs and egg products, as well as manure and fertilizer. Its offerings are available at Arizona retail outlets, including Albertson's, Costco, Fred Meyer, and Wal-Mart, as well as to the foodservice industry. Hickman's owns a total of almost 5 million birds. It also makes fertilizer products from its poultry waste, including pelletized chicken manure and pelletized compost for golf courses and organic vegetable growers. Hickman's was founded in 1944 by the Hickman family, which still owns and operates the company.
