The Hartz Mountain Corporation (Hartz) is a leading manufacturer of pet care products in the US and Canada. It makes and markets about 1,500 pet care products, including nutritional supplements, over-the-counter animal healthcare items, toys and training aids for dogs and cats, treats, and pet foods, among others. Hartz also caters to parakeets, canaries, parrots, cockatiels, finches, goldfish, tropical fish, reptiles, ferrets, chinchillas, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rabbits. Its brands include Cattraction, Chew 'n Clean, Delectables, Dura Play, Ultraguard, and Oinkies, among others. Hartz's pet products are available in leading supermarkets, large retail stores, and online. Founded by German immigrant Max Stern in 1926, Hartz is owned by Japanese household and pet goods maker Unicharm, which acquired its majority stake from trading giant Sumitomo.
