Description
Aemetis is a global biofuels and renewable chemicals company focused on the acquisition, development, and commercialization of low-carbon renewable fuels primarily on a contractual basis. We are also engaged in the development, construction, and operation of biorefineries primarily for the production of advanced biofuels and renewable chemicals. We believe that our advanced biofuels and renewable chemicals can help transition to a sustainable and clean energy future. Aemetis owns and operates a 55 million-gallon-per-year sustainable biodiesel production facility in India and a 60 million-gallon-per-year state-of-the-art renewable fuels refinery in California. Our India operations produce sustainable biodiesel primarily from non-edible oils, such as waste cooking oil and jatropha oil, and our California facility produces renewable diesel and renewable jet fuel from either waste cooking oil or algae oils. Through our subsidiaries, Aemetis Biogas Renewable Natural Gas, LLC and Aemetis Advanced Fuels, LLC, we also own and operate a 12 million-gallon-per-year capacity renewable natural gas purification and compression facility in California and a 24.5-million- gallon-per-year ethanol production facility in Illinois, respectively. We are currently constructing a carbon capture and sequestration project at our Keyes, Calif., renewable fuels and biochemicals facility. Construction of Phase 1 of this project, which is designed to capture 250,000 metric tons of CO2 per year, is scheduled to be completed in 2024. We are also developing a 570,000-gallon-per-year sustainable aviation fuel facility in California that is expected to begin operations in 2023. In addition we are developing a 20 million-gallon-per-year carbon negative renewable diesel facility in Ireland, which is expected to begin operations in 2026. Furthermore, we are developing a low-carbon renewable fuels and biochemicals production campus near Reno, Nevada, that is expected to be completed in three phases and commence operations in early 2025 for Phase 1, with subsequent phases commencing operations in 2027 and 2029. Phase I of this project is expected to produce annually 650 million gallons of renewable diesel, biochemicals, and hydrogen from various feedstocks, including agricultural waste and residues, forest wood waste, biomass, and sustainably sourced alcohols such as waste ethanol. Through the use of carbon capture and sequestration technology, we believe our Reno project has the potential to be the first net-zero carbon intensity renewable fuel complex in the United States. We have a distribution network that extends across the Americas, Europe and Asia, enabling us to market and distribute our biofuels throughout the world. We believe our feedstocks have several advantages over other traditional and renewable fuel feedstocks. The types of feedstocks we primarily use for our advanced biofuels and renewable chemicals production are currently abundant globally and we believe our feedstocks can be grown and processed sustainably without competing with global human food production or destroying rainforest areas. Our feedstocks are also less expensive than fossil fuel-derived products and are more stable in price over time. We believe our use of waste and residual biomass offers a sustainable and affordable solution to meeting the growing energy demand for both developing and developed countries.
