WELLCOME TRUST

Scientists and medical researchers in need of money more than welcome support from the Wellcome Trust. It is politically and financially independent global charitable foundation, funded by a £37.8 billion investment portfolio which supports discovery research into life, health and wellbeing, and taking on three worldwide health challenges: mental health, infectious diseases, and climate change. It also works with policy makers, run advocacy campaigns, and form partnerships with other organizations to ensure everyone, everywhere benefits from advances in health science. In accordance with the will of Sir Henry Wellcome, the Wellcome Trust was established in 1936 from shares of The Wellcome Foundation, which eventually became GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). The trust is headquartered in London.
