Founded in 1924, Scripps Health is a $4.3 billion not-for-profit health system that serves the San Diego area through four acute-care hospitals. The health system also includes two of San Diego's six designated trauma centers (both Level 1), same-day, walk-in care at Scripps HealthExpress, four emergency rooms, three urgent care centers, and Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal Medical Center locations, a network of integrated facilities with specialists from more than 60 medical and surgical specialists at some 30 outpatient centers and clinics. Altogether, the health system treats more than 700,000 patients annually through more than 3,000 physicians.
