At Cotswold Dairy, sustainability has always been at the heart of operations, partnering with more than 100 dairy farmers across the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, and Somerset, producing 130 million litres of milk per year for doorstep deliveries - one of the most sustainable methods of distribution. In 2020, the 400-strong team at Cotswold Dairy took the next step in the strategic sustainability journey by investing in a purpose-built facility including an anaerobic digestion plant, enhanced robotic technology, and solar panels; achieving Net Zero in 2021, as well as winning the National Farming Award for the best sustainability initiative. Encapsulating the Cotswold Dairy commitment to sustainability is the new Bio-Plant near Witney, Oxfordshire, designed to integrate the very latest technologies, so the company may embark on a journey of continued sustainability improvement, reducing its carbon footprint consistently over time to continue feeding the nation - sustainably. With a commitment to both the environment and the community, a 2013 evaluation of the business estimated that $186 million was added to the local economy, whilst Cotswold Dairy staff also sits on Business West's Green Skills Advisory Board, helping Gloucestershire businesses reduce their carbon footprint. Operating with a total of 1100 commercial vehicles on the road, Cotswold Dairy subsequently became the 2022 Fleet Operator of the Year as part of the Greener Commercial Fleets Awards and continue to be at the forefront of fleet decarbonization, trialing several innovative ways of reducing carbon emissions , including hydrogen fuel cell electric technology, to become one of the first commercial British businesses to switch a vehicle to green hydrogen.
