Description
Maruha Nichiro is the big tuna of Japan's sushi tray. One of Japan's top seafood producers, the company's commercial fishing operations catch Alaska Pollock, Salmon and Crab. It also buys seafood from 70 other countries to make canned, frozen, and other processed seafood. In addition to seafood, it offers beef, pork, chicken, and processed meats, along with other types of frozen and canned foods, from frozen pizza to canned pet food. Its fishing and processing operations are located worldwide. Vertically integrated, Maruha Nichiro maintains cold-storage facilities across Japan. The company was formed in 2014 when Maruha Nichiro Seafoods acquired its parent, Maruha Nichiro Holdings. Its Trading business segment accounts for nearly half of the company sales. Market in North America accounts for over 65% of its sales.
