High Industries has ascended to the top of the steel and construction business. Doing business as High Companies, its subsidiaries are active in heavy construction and materials, mostly along the East Coast. Its High Steel Structures is one of North America's largest steel bridge fabricators. Other group companies include High Steel Service Center (metal processing), High Concrete Group (precast concrete), High Transit (specialty hauler), and High Structural Erectors (field erection services). Affiliates of High Companies, such as High Hotels, are active in real estate. Tracing its roots to a welding shop founded by Sanford H. High in 1931, the family-owned company is controlled by the High Family Council.
