Description
The San Diego Unified Port District (better known as the Port of San Diego) brings in cash from land and sea. The agency manages two marine cargo facilities, as well as a terminal used by cruise ships. In addition, the Port of San Diego is charged with protecting San Diego Bay and adjoining tidelands from pollution. The agency,which was created in 1962,is governed by a seven-member board appointed by the city councils of San Diego and four neighboring cities.
