Description
General Electric (GE) is a high-tech industrial company that operates worldwide through three segments: Aerospace, Renewable Energy, and Power. Its products include commercial and military aircraft engines and systems; wind and other renewable energy generation equipment and grid solutions; and gas, steam, nuclear, and other power generation equipment. It has significant global installed bases of equipment across these sectors, and services to support these products are also an important part of its business alongside new equipment sales. Its equipment and solutions are deployed in more than 64,000 commercial and military aircraft (including GE and its joint venture partners), some 45,000 onshore wind turbines, and around 7,700 gas turbines. About 45% of GE's revenue comes from its US operations. GE was formed in 1892 by merging the Edison General Electric Company and the Thomson-Houston Company.
