" Hi-ho, the Valio" Valio is a farmer-owned dairy cooperative engaged in processing and marketing milk, dairy products, and other food products. Valio is owned by 17 Finnish dairy co-operative, nine of which make up the Valio Group. Its subsidiary Finlandia Cheese imports and distributes Emmental cheese in the US. Seeking to lighten its load, Valio has sold its ice cream business to Nestlé S.A. and its baby food operations to Numico (now part of Danone). Valio has teamed up with Tetra Pak to market its technology to produce lactose-free milk. The company sells its products in 27 countries.
