Dow Chemical Company Limited may be plastic, but nothing about it is fake. The global giant -- one of the world's largest chemical companies -- maintains several manufacturing locations in the UK, many of which were originally built for other companies later bought by Dow (from Union Carbide to ICI to Hampshire Chemical). Dow UK makes ethylene oxide and ethylene glycol, bonding and sealing agents for the automotive industry, herbicides, polystyrene, and Styrofoam (a Dow brand). Among the Dow subsidiaries, joint ventures, and divisions with operations in the UK are Automotive, Dow Corning,and Union Carbide. The company announced a major expansion at its joint operation with Terex in Northern Ireland in 2011.
