Green Plains is one of the leading corn processors in the world which turns corn into ethanol at facilities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Tennessee. The company has annual ethanol production capacity of approximately 955 million gallons, primarily used as an auto fuel. It also sells ethanol produced by different types of grains. Co-products of the ethanol production process are used as mid-protein, high-energy animal feed and marketed to the dairy, beef, swine and poultry industries. It produces approximately 2.7 million tons of animal feed known as distiller grains, the primary co-product of ethanol production, as well as some 310 million pounds of corn oil, making it one of the largest ethanol producers in North America.
