Hy-Vee is one of the largest privately-owned US supermarket chains, despite serving some modestly-sized towns in the Midwest. It distributes products to its stores through several subsidiaries, including Amber Specialty Pharmacy, D & D Foods, Florist Distributing, Hy-Vee Pharmacy Solutions, Midwest Heritage, Perishable Distributors of Iowa, RedBox RX, Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits, and Vivid Clear RX. Hy-Vee is synonymous with quality, variety, convenience, healthy lifestyles, culinary expertise and superior customer service. Charles Hyde and David Vredenburg founded the employee-owned company in 1930. It takes its name from a combination of its founders' names.
