RONA has Canada's homes and gardens covered. The country's largest distributor and retailer of hardware, home improvement, and gardening products (ahead of Home Depot of Canada), RONA operates more than 530 franchised, affiliated, and corporate stores. The stores range in format from small RONA L'express shops to RONA L'entrepôt big-box outlets, and the retailer carries some 2,000 RONA-branded products. RONA also supplies hardware and construction materials to some 1,500 independent sales outlets, as well as its own stores. The company generates about a quarter of its sales from distribution. Founded in 1939, RONA has employed an aggressive acquisition strategy to expand throughout Canada. It was acquired by Lowe's in mid-2016.
