Company profile: Toyota Motor Corporation is widely respected as the world's number 1 automobile manufacturer. Through its global network spanning 160 countries, the Toyota, Lexus, and Daihatsu brands sell approximately 10 million vehicles per year. The company was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1937. Toyota's HQ is located in Toyota, Aichi, Japan. In 1963 the Europen subsidiary of Toyota was founded. The desire to produce vehicles in Europe, grew from the enormous success of the Corona, Crown and Land Cruiser models. With the Carina and Celica models Toyota Europe's manufacturing sites in Belgium and the UK took off. In 1974, in Cologne's Ossendorf area, the beloved Corolla has been built for the Europen market. Since 2002, Toyota has its European headquarters in Brussels where more than 1,000 employees handle operations and strategy in all functions for the 57 distributors and sales companies in Europe, including the Russian Federation and Turkey. Toyota Deutschland GmbH is a sub-brand of Toyota Europe and has responsibilities for Germany. The company offers a mix of marketing, sales, aftersales and financial services divisions. Production takes place in partner factories. Toyota Deutschland is characterized by a young, diverse and highly motivated team of approximately 400 employees at the headquarters in Cologne and offices in Stuttgart, Berlin and Munich.
