DAY FRESH GROUP is SA DAGU' s new Company that brings together over half a century of professional fruit and food production from the firm, which today is composed of different divisions closely linked to the various stages of the business. DAGU began originally by the hand of its founder Francisco J. Dágueda Utrilla as a company that carried out door-to-door trade in products derived mainly from pigs. In the early 1960s, it began to grow and expanded its activities to pork and vegetable wholesale, while relocation its registered office to Ciempozuelos (Madrid). Years later, in the late 1970s, the foundation of what would later become one of the main pillars of the group was established: the production of fruit and vegetables. In the following decades, the vast professional growth of the company led to the modernisation of the company, structured as an Anonymous Society (inc.) (DAGU, SA) in 1996 and tripling its warehouse capacity in Ciempozuelos, going from 4,000 to 12,000 metres to meet the growth needs of the company. In 2004, DAGU established a new central warehouse in the countryside of Guadalajara, specifically in Cabañillas del Campo, which, in comparison with the Madrid establishment, would occupy 18,000 square metres. Years later, in 2008, the company set up the Mercabarna warehouse belonging to the Barcelona Agro-food Centre, strategically installed in the Catalan capital to cover the distribution needs of products in the area and surrounding provinces. In these years of growth, DAGU has focused on the production and sale of high-quality fresh products, which today constitute an important referential in the sector and which can be found every day on the tables of families across Spain, with over 600 refrigerated vehicle trips departing each year to Spain’s main towns and cities. In 2010, as a result of the economic and financial crisis, DAY FRESH GROUP was founded with the main goal of acquiring the shareholding of the companies that were comprised in the business group and to drive their administration under a new business plan over the next few years. The group’s journey in the field of fruit and vegetables continues today with professional teams in different parts of the worlds, where the best production areas are located.
