The company operates in five segments: tissue and greaseproof papers; paperboard; pulp, and sawn timber; wood products; and wood supply and forest services. The company does business in about 30 countries; its sales force serves the construction, industrial and distribution sectors, a range of consumer packaging, as well as household to institutional end uses. The group is held by Metsäliitto Cooperative, a union of approximately 90,000 members who own about half of the private forests in Finland. Over 90% of total revenue accounts outside Finland. The company was founded in 1947.
