TEREOS SCA is a French multinational agricultural conglomerate headquartered in the town of Moussy-le-Vieux in the Seine-et-Marne department in Île-de-France. It is one of the largest sugar producers in the world. The company was founded in 1852 as a sugar refinery in the village of Bucy-lès-Pierrepont, then in the department of Aisne and part of the Picardy region. In 1933, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Chauny, also in the Aisne department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin. In 1959, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Maizy, also in the Aisne department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin et de Maizy. In 1968, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Vic-sur-Aisne, also in the Aisne department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin, de Maizy et de Vic-sur-Aisne. In 1972, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Gauchy, also in the Aisne department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin, de Maizy, de Vic-sur-Aisne et de Gauchy. In 1978, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Blérancourt, also in the Aisne department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin, de Maizy, de Vic-sur-Aisne, de Gauchy et de Blérancourt. In 1986, the company changed its name to Tereos SA. In 2000, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Artenay, in the Loiret department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin, de Maizy, de Vic-sur-Aisne, de Gauchy, de Blérancourt et d'Artenay. In 2002, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Conty, in the Somme department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin, de Maizy, de Vic-sur-Aisne, de Gauchy, de Blérancourt, d'Artenay et de Conty. In 2004, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Étrépagny, in the Eure department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin, de Maizy, de Vic-sur-Aisne, de Gauchy, de Blérancourt, d'Artenay, de Conty et d'Étrépagny. In 2006, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Origny-Sainte-Benoite, in the Aisne department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin, de Maizy, de Vic-sur-Aisne, de Gauchy, de Blérancourt, d'Artenay, de Conty, d'Étrépagny et d'Origny-Sainte-Benoite. In 2008, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Nesles-la-Vallée, also in the Aisne department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin, de Maizy, de Vic-sur-Aisne, de Gauchy, de Blérancourt, d'Artenay, de Conty, d'Étrépagny, d'Origny-Sainte-Benoite et de Nesles-la-Vallée. In 2010, the company merged with another sugar refinery in the village of Guignicourt, in the Aisne department, to form the Société des Sucreries et Raffineries de Saint Quentin, de Maizy, de Vic-sur-Aisne, de Gauchy, de Blérancourt, d'Artenay, de Conty, d'Étrépagny, d'Origny-Sainte-Benoite, de Nesles-la-Vallée et de Guignicourt. In 2012, the company changed its name to Tereos SCA.
