WNL Staal B.V. was founded in 1935 as a trading company in metal. “WNL” stood for “Willen & Noorlander”. They distributed steel supplied by the Hoogovens company which was considered unique at the time. In 1961 the company moved to the Industrieweg in Rijswijk. Today, as one of the leading steel distributors in the Benelux, our business approach is still based on our core values of reliability, commitment, and flexibility. The stock level and the wide variety of products is unique in Europe. In 1996 WNL became part of the Imtech Group. Expansion of the group’s activities in Poland, Italy, and Germany led to exclusive deliveries of high-quality steel products to tunnel-construction projects and land reclamation projects. The expansion of our activities with custom products, system solutions, and a logistic service was a logical step in the evolution and growth of our organization. The traditional steel distribution has been enhanced with a range of services that focus on the customer’s total requirements in steel and project-based activities. WNL has become the preferred supplier for many tunnel-construction projects both in the Netherlands and abroad. The list of landmark projects is extensive with works including: The Thames Tunnel, The Channel Tunnel, The Eurotunnel , the Bridge over the Bosporus , The Øresund Bridge and The HSL South project in the Netherlands. These projects contributed to the development and acquisition of specialized insight and experience with project management of large-scale projects, both above and below ground.
