Global Chandelier Market Overview
In value terms, chandelier production totaled $22.6B in 2010 estimated in export prices. In general, chandelier production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of 13% y-o-y. In that year, global chandelier production attained its peak level of $25.4B. From 2009 to 2010, global chandelier production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.
China (1.1B units) constituted the country with the largest volume of chandelier production, accounting for 55% of total volume. Moreover, chandelier production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, India (212M units), fivefold. The U.S. (134M units) ranked third in terms of total production with a 6.9% share.
From 2007 to 2010, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume in China totaled +2.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (-1.7% per year) and the U.S. (-19.4% per year).
The global chandelier market revenue amounted to $18.6B in 2010, growing by 6.1% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, chandelier consumption, however, continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when the market value increased by 7.7% year-to-year. In that year, the global chandelier market attained its peak level of $21B. From 2009 to 2010, the growth of the global chandelier market remained at a lower figure.
From 2007 to 2010, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume in China totaled -1.2%. The remaining consuming countries recorded the following average annual rates of consumption growth: the U.S. (-16.9% per year) and India (-1.6% per year).
In value terms, China ($4.1B), the U.S. ($4B) and India ($1.8B) constituted the countries with the highest levels of market value in 2010, together comprising 53% of the global market. These countries were followed by Germany, Canada, France, Italy, the UK, Russia, Thailand, Brazil and Mexico, which together accounted for a further 22%.
In terms of the main consuming countries, Brazil experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to market size, over the period under review, while chandelier market for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
The countries with the highest levels of chandelier per capita consumption in 2010 were Canada (1,429 units per 1000 persons), Italy (908 units per 1000 persons) and Germany (881 units per 1000 persons).
From 2007 to 2010, the most notable rate of growth in terms of chandelier per capita consumption, amongst the main consuming countries, was attained by Brazil, while chandelier per capita consumption for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
